Twilight Carnivale 2018 was possibly the biggest thing to happen to Banora Point (located in the Tweed Heads Shire) in the past decade! Some 1500+ community members joined Banora Point Primary School P&C’s celebration of 125 years of education. It was the first time the school had been open to the local population in many years, with mother nature turning on some sparkling weather in support.

Younger patrons were thrilled with the variety of carnival rides, sideshow stalls, sweets, treats and free activities. Older patrons enjoyed the school and community performances, quality coffee, food trucks and market stalls, rotating raffle format and the end of day entertainment by local musician Dave Murray. The happy, relaxed atmosphere was contagious. It was clearly an event intended to bring the community together, and that it did.

Representatives cheerfully engaged in this Gold Coast attraction from the local Lions Club, Country Women’s Association, Volunteer Rescue Association, Tweed Heads Police, Banora Point Fire Brigade, Tweed Valley Sailing Club, SES and more, each stall showcasing a taste of their organisation while giving their fellow locals an oppertunity to learn more or even join up to be a member. We look forward to seeing this aspect of the event grow as more local groups follow suit and get involved.

The Carnivale was supported by a host of local businesses: Mick Emmett Waterproofing, North Estate Agents, South Tweed Autos Smash Repairs, Coastal Dental Care Banora Point, Williams Group Australia, Justine Elliot MP, Storage King Tweed Heads, The Macadamia Castle and animal park, Cold Rock Ice Creamery Coolangatta, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, Epic Skate Tweed Heads, Shelbsmumma, Donut King – Retail Food Group, Forged Fitness Tweed Heads, The Cookie Cart Banora Point, Coastal Events, Gold Coast Snow Park, Helloworld Travel Banora Point, Wilson Haynes Law Firm, Springloaded, Banora Point, Tweed City Shopping Centre, Timezone Coolangatta, Eye Optical Studio, Woolworths Tweed City, Solo Resource Recovery, IC Signs, Choice Charcoal Chickens, Big W Tweed City, Be Found Web Design, Party Time Gold Coast and Zarraffa’s Coffee.

The inaugural Twilight Carnivale made approximately $25,000 thanks to the support of so many businesses and patrons. This amount was donated by the BPPS Parents & Citizen’s Association, to Banora Point Primary School, at the 2018 end of year Presentation Day. It has already been used to develop a new outdoor learning and community space for all students and visitors to enjoy.
